Why this matters

Millions are locked out of help — and underspending a life they've paid for.

Most retirees face the hardest financial decisions of their lives with no guidance at all. The money is often there; the confidence and clarity aren't.

Net zero
starts at home
Older homeowners hold the keys to some of the UK's least efficient homes — but the barrier to a warmer, greener home is rarely money or awareness. It's the confidence to know it's affordable, and clarity on where to start. That's what Trellis is built to unlock.

Straight answers

No catch. Here's exactly how it works.

You're right to ask. Here's how we make money, what we do with your information, and what we'll never do.

How does Trellis make money?
Trellis is free to start, and the core safe-to-spend range always stays free. Later, you'll be able to choose an optional paid plan for deeper features — like saving and comparing what-ifs, or richer energy and grant tools. We don't earn commission on your money, and we don't sell your data. No one pays us to steer your decisions — our job is simply to help you see clearly.
Free core, alwaysOptional paid plansNo commission
What do you do with my information?
Your figures are used for one thing: to work out your safe-to-spend and the what-ifs you explore. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. You type your numbers in yourself — there's no bank linking required to get started. If you ever choose to connect accounts for automatic updates, that's entirely your decision, and you can disconnect any time.
Not soldNo bank linking requiredYou stay in control
Is this financial advice?
No — and we're careful about this. Trellis offers guidance, not regulated financial advice. We help you understand your own numbers and show a range to explore, but we never tell you what to do or recommend specific products. For decisions that need regulated advice, we'll always suggest speaking to a qualified adviser.
Guidance, not adviceNo product recommendationsAlways a range
What is "safe-to-spend" — are you telling me to withdraw it?
Your safe-to-spend is an illustrative range, worked out from the figures you enter and a set of assumptions — a way to explore what your money could support, not a single "correct" number. It is not a recommendation that this is what you should spend, and it is not a recommendation to access your pension, enter drawdown, take tax-free cash, or withdraw, transfer or move any money. When we show where your income could come from, we're illustrating the picture — not telling you to draw from any particular pot. Decisions about pensions, tax, investments or large purchases are yours, and for those we'll always suggest speaking to a qualified adviser.

Why does Trellis exist?
Most people reaching retirement can't get affordable guidance — regulated advice is expensive, and millions are left to make irreversible decisions alone. Trellis was built to close that gap: to give people a clear, calm picture of their money so they can enjoy what they've worked for, with confidence.

There's a second reason too. The generation now retiring owns much of the UK's housing — including many of its least energy-efficient homes. The upfront cost of a warmer, cheaper-to-run home often feels out of reach, even when the money is there and grants would cover much of it. The barrier is rarely awareness — it's the confidence to know it's affordable and the clarity on where to start. By helping people see what they can safely spend, Trellis aims to unlock the confidence to invest in greener homes — cutting energy bills, improving comfort in later life, and supporting the UK's path to net zero.

We only do well if you feel more in control — never by selling you something.
